These Terms of Use apply to your use of the Forester’s Friend application and related website. By using Forester’s Friend, you agree to these Terms.
Purpose of the App
Forester’s Friend is a forestry field-data, timber-cruising, calculation, reporting, and export tool. It is intended to assist users with organizing information and producing estimates based on the data and settings they provide.
User Responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of project information, stand setup, acreage, plot design, species identification, tree measurements, product classifications, stumpage prices, and other information entered into the app.
You are also responsible for reviewing calculation details, equation applicability, reports, and exported information before relying on or sharing the results.
Forestry Estimates and Professional Judgment
Results produced by Forester’s Friend are estimates. Actual timber volume, product distribution, value, stand conditions, and sale results may differ because of sampling error, measurement error, market conditions, defects, access, logging conditions, purchaser specifications, and other factors.
Forester’s Friend does not replace the judgment of a qualified forestry professional. Results should be professionally reviewed before being used for management, appraisal, sale, tax, legal, lending, or investment decisions.
Data, Storage, and Backups
Project information is stored locally on the user’s device unless the user intentionally exports or shares it. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important project files, reports, and exported data.
Removing the app, losing access to a device, device failure, storage corruption, or operating-system changes may result in data loss. Local device storage is not a substitute for an independent backup.
Acceptable Use
You may use Forester’s Friend only for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to interfere with the app, misuse its export functions, distribute malicious content through it, or use it in a manner that violates the rights of another person or organization.
Intellectual Property
Forester’s Friend, its branding, interface, original written content, and software are owned by the developer or used with permission. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the app or its intellectual property to the user.
Users retain responsibility for and control over the project information, photographs, logos, notes, and other content they enter or import.
Availability and Changes
Features may be changed, improved, replaced, or discontinued. Compatibility may depend on the user’s device, operating system, permissions, available storage, and other technical conditions.
No Warranty
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Forester’s Friend is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free calculations, fitness for a particular purpose, or preservation of user data.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or business losses arising from use of the app, inability to use the app, inaccurate input data, reliance on estimates, lost project information, or exported reports.
Termination
You may stop using Forester’s Friend at any time. These Terms continue to apply to conduct and obligations arising while you used the app.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated when the app, website, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are made.
